Parkland Peonies | Peony Field!

It’s that time of year again! PEONY SEASON. You blink and you miss it but wow, it sure is spectacular, especially if you are a flower lover like myself. Peonies are vibrant and have an explosive beauty reminiscent of another galaxy or something… that’s how I feel when I look at them. They are remarkable flowers so I was completely thrilled when I heard about the peony field just south of Calgary.

Parkland Peonies and the peony field is gorgeous and is operated by Adam Yakabuskie who has a passion for growing flowers. Parkland Peonies has 650 Peony varieties and just over 50 named martagon lily varieties. The field is spectacular and you can also purchase peonies directly from them.

The field is open for a few weekends each year in June when the peonies are in full bloom. You can check out their website for when tickets go on sale. The field is a beautiful opportunity for a photo op, to purchase some spectacular cut peonies, to wander around and to view the beauty and differences in the many peony varieties. It’s also a great way to connect with flower growers who are so passionate about the craft and can explain the many rare varieties, how they come to be and how to grow these wonderful flowers.
