Nourish Your Mind, Feed Your Soul

A mini getaway for me in the mountains to recharge. Although icy conditions are making the skiing slightly less enjoyable, it’s  always nice to get out of the city to clear your head. This blog is about living the whole-Istic lifestyle and that means mental wellness as well and as part of my mental well being, that means trying new things, getting away from the everyday and for me, getting into nature. I am blessed that I live so close to the wonderous beauty that is the rocky mountains and even if it’s just for a quick day trip, it’s always well worth it.

Even if you aren’t a skier or snowboarder, there is just something about changing your surroundings, even if it is for a short time. That can be all you need sometimes to feed your soul and give you a different perspective for that day, month or longer, however big or small the experience.

Fernie is a great little mountain town with breathtaking views and a cute little downtown that is charming with heritage buildings built in the late 1800s to mid 1900s. There is a cultured atmosphere to this small ski town with trendy shops and cafes.

Located in the Kootenay Mountain range, it is a two and a half hour drive southwest of Calgary.

It was built around the coal mining industry but has an extensive history of rum runners and an Indian Princess, you can read it all here.
